About us
s52, a.s. was established in December 2000 as a joint stock company and registered in Company House in June of the following year. The original business name of the company emerged from the best-known fruit spirit of the region 52 % Slivovica (Plum Spirit).
From the inception our goal was to reinvigorate the production of traditional genuine fruit spirits. In particular, we put great emphasis on using genuine fruits and natural ingredients in the process of distillery.
When we thought of locating the company, we decided to settle in the sunny area of Kamenicna, a small municipality near Komarno, situated in the very South of Slovakia. This area lies on the Great Plains formed by Danube River, and has been historically well-known for its fertility, agricultural tradition, and richness of crops. The favourable climate and soil grant the fruition and availability of various sorts of fruits both in terms of quality and quantity. Thus, these natural and historical facts confirmed us our choice.
We are convinced that our genuine fruit spirits from this region dispose with higher qualities and better properties than industrially distilled and modified alcohol. The technology used in the process builds on centuries’ long tradition of distillery in this part of Europe. It consists of a 2-leveled distillery, traditional fermentation process, and fining of the right flavour and aroma. The introduction of each part of technology was undergone by 1-year period of trial operation under supervision of the qualified technologist with over 50 years of experience.
The genuine fruit distillate obtained from the distillery and subsequent refining usually contain between 60 – 70 % of alcohol. The natural water with low contain of minerals is then used to reduce the level of alcohol for the required 52 %. No chemical or preservation substances, aromas, flavours or any industrial sweeteners colorants are added to the final blend.
All our products have been certified by national certification agencies and authorities and the quality is regularly tested and analyzed in national laboratories and abroad.
We have been supplying Slovak market with our genuine fruit spirits since November 2nd, 2001. From the following year, we have managed to supply new markets in a few European countries by providing a wide range of products and attractive consumers’ packaging.
In conjunction with the accession of Slovak Republic into European Union and subsequent changes and adjustments of legislature to comply with EU legislative framework in the area of liquor industry, we have had to introduce and run tax warehouse.
Nevertheless, as the still fledgling company, we work hard towards fulfilment of our ambitions, promoting the true fruit spirits, addressing our customers with quality, building our brand image, and expanding to new markets and target groups.
We want to become a respectable and well-recognized producer of genuine fruit distillate in the region.
